Common questions
- "No sign change found" means the add-on tested a range of values and your formula never crossed the target. Check whether a solution exists; a different starting value or bounds (under Advanced) often help.
- "The formula only jumps in steps" appears for staircase formulas (SUMIFS, FLOOR, lookup buckets): no input hits the target exactly, so the closest achievable value is offered instead.
- A banner about an earlier run means a run was interrupted (closed sidebar, lost connection). One click restores the original cell content — nothing is lost.
- Daily limit: the free plan includes 5 runs per day, resetting at midnight Central European Time.
- ARRAYFORMULA cells: if the variable cell is filled by
an
ARRAYFORMULAspilling from another cell, writing into it blocks the array (Sheets shows a #REF! at the array's anchor). Restore the original value and the array comes back. Pick the array's source cell — or a plain input cell — as the variable instead. - Structural edits during a run: avoid inserting or deleting rows/columns while a run is active — cells are tracked by position, so structural edits can shift which cell is written to.
What to include in a bug report
- What you did and what you expected to happen
- The exact message shown in the sidebar (result card or error text)
- The target formula's rough shape (e.g. "SUMIFS over a date range") — not your data
- Your spreadsheet locale (File → Settings), if the issue involves number input
- No spreadsheets, credentials or personal data, please. We never need access to your file — and the add-on itself sends us nothing.
